Come Behind The Scenes at a TV Commercial Shoot

Jennifer Autry Behind the scenes

Here the director is giving me and my guest to be interviewed a little direction.

I thought I’d take you on a quick behind the scenes trip on a commercial I hosted.  Actually it’s an infomercial, and the set up and everything involved is pretty intense.  The shoot had multiple cameras to capture all different angles, we had lighting, reflectors, fans, and there were cables running everywhere.  We had wardrobe stylists, make up artists, and lots of extras.  Myself and another woman were the hosts for the show and we spend a week working on the set which consisted of three different luxury mansions.

In these next pictures you’ll get to see a little more of what goes on behind the scenes and at the end I have a short clip of the finished product.

Why You Must Keep Your Modeling Portfolio Current

It’s important for a model to keep the pictures in their book or portfolio current. Models that keep their portfolios current usually get more work. So, every time you get new pictures whether from test shoots or tear sheets you’ll add them to your book. You only want to keep current pictures in your book. As a general rule of thumb a current picture is a picture that is less than six months old. So if you have pictures older than six months you might want to look into shooting again soon. You want to keep your book looking fresh. . . . → Read More: Why You Must Keep Your Modeling Portfolio Current

Modeling Jobs and the IRS

Modeling is a job, and it has the potential to make you a lot of money. The IRS knows this too and they will want their share. When you earn money it’s called income and the IRS collects income taxes from you. Modeling is a little bit different than the average 9-5 type job. Modeling is different, as a model you are an independent contractor. As an independent contractor you are hired as needed. So you don’t get a check every two weeks, and when you do work your earnings are paid out without having taxes held. You’ll have to pay those taxes owed directly to the IRS yourself. This might sound confusing, but it can be really simple. Let me explain… . . . → Read More: Modeling Jobs and the IRS
